What’s Next?

All through the Trump presidency, Mr. Trump has been a bit of a loose cannon when it comes to social media. One could make the case that Democrats aside, his own mouth (and by extension his keyboard) is his worst enemy. Has he exaggerated at times? Yes. Lied? Yes. Been truthful at other times? Yes again. But now it’s crumbling down all around him. Twitter and Facebook have muzzled him, and Joe Biden is about to replace him. The latest leg of his lifelong ego trip is coming to an end. Overwhelmed In America

As not only an American but just as a human being, I’m shocked and dismayed at the path my nation is traveling. It was bad enough when people just whined and traded lawsuits when they didn’t get their way. But now we’re burning cities and killing people. Protestors turned our capitol into a third world city in early January – because things didn’t go their way. Was there corruption involved in the election? Yes, absolutely. Was the violence justified? No it wasn’t. And now politicians and public figures are pointing fingers of blame at each other when all of them share some some measure of responsibility for the chaos. Mental Midgetry

America is heading down a dangerous road. I’m not talking about Socialism or Anarchy (yeah, those are bad too). I’m referring to our free-fall into ignorance. Far too many Americans are rejecting obvious facts in favor of what they want to believe. They’ll reject a beneficial scientific discovery because they think it conflicts with their religious beliefs. They reject common sense precautions against Covid-19 because they’ve been deluded into thinking their rights are being violated. We reject vaccines because some goofball on youtube strings together a bunch of unrelated information. We are becoming a nation of people unwilling or unable to think outside the box. I find myself torn between wanting to help fight the tidal wave of stupidity or just giving up.

The Great Human Disconnect Of The 21st Century

AngryBabyMaskMore and more Americans are becoming disconnected from reality. Does anyone recall the USA ever being in such a mess? Violent civil unrest, unwarranted attacks on innocent people, rampant conspiracy theories, looting and rioting and more. We’ve had civil unrest in the past, and not all of it bad. Women, blacks and gays all had to fight for equality in a nation dominated by old white men reluctant to give up their stranglehold on American society. They won, and that’s a good thing. We’re supposed to be a free nation. But… We might be free but we’re certainly not united.

What A Mess

FloydProtests_01What a mess America is in right now. Between Covid-19, the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and others, high unemployment and whatever Trump and the Democrats are fighting about this week it’s as if the whole country is upside down. One blog post obviously can’t cover it all. But there are a few things I’d like to address. We The People are getting kicked around pretty badly, and sadly a lot of it isn’t Us vs Them. It’s Us vs Us. But that is something we can fix.

Yes, You Can Pray In School

PopeTrumpI keep seeing these bogus memes on Facebook and elsewhere about how we need to put prayer back in public schools. And now President Trump is pandering to Evangelicals by telling them he’ll do just that. This is strictly a political move since an article in Christianity Today portraying him as unfit seems to have damaged his support among true believers.

Choosing Hell?

HellDepiction_01Y’all bear with me here, OK? I’m a little bit pissed off and disgusted in the extreme. Grotesque memes like this one are becoming all too common these days. Christians are losing the battle for the minds of the people and they know it. But despicable, threatening images like this one can serve to frighten the gullible into belief “just in case.” The tactic is morally bankrupt and rooted in lies (Christians call it “scripture”).

Regarding Melania

Melania_03OK, let me first say that I am NOT here to disrespect the First Lady. After a rocky start she has done all anyone has the right to expect of her to gain our respect. But I would like to have a frank discussion about who she is and how she got to where she is today. Not to question whether she should be First Lady, but about who she was before and the metamorphosis she has undergone.

The Eyes Have It

CortezAlexandria Ocasio-Cortez has got some seriously scary eyes. And I got to wondering how those eyes would look on other famous people. You know, like how years ago a few people were trying out Jimmy Carter’s toothy smile on other presidents. Anyway, I fired up Paint.Net (my graphics editor of choice) and abused a few images of celebrities and politicians with the “Crazy Eyes.”

All the images use the eyes from the photo above.

And The Hypocrisy Continues…

As I have said for years, if you want to know what the Democrats are doing just look at what they’re accusing the Republicans of doing. Nine times out of ten, that’ll be it. Never has this been more obvious than with the Brett Kavanaugh fiasco and the 2018 midterm elections. Continue reading
