Education Or Indoctrination?

Well here we go again. Once more Christians are insisting that they are above the law. Why? Because of their “sincerely held religious beliefs” of course. Seems that Colorado offers state funding for preschools, but they must meet certain requirements. Schools participating in this program may not practice discrimination because of the sexual orientation of the student or the parents. And we all know what Catholics think of the LGBTQ community.

The Bible insists that homosexuals be killed outright, just for being who they are. Like the old saying says, “There is no hate like Christian love.” So yeah, the Denver Archdiocese and some “offended” parents are filing a lawsuit to skirt the Colorado law.

What does the Bible actually say about same sex relationships?
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” – Leviticus 20:13

That’s plainly spoken. And sadly enough there are those in the world today who still feel that hatred, even though most do not act upon it. Every Saturday and Sunday preachers of every version of Christianity (I’m lumping the Catholics in with the Protestants for the purposes of this post) scream about the evils of sex in general and same sex relations in particular.

But back to current events:
The Archdiocese of Denver, which runs 34 preschools, says it is excluded from the statewide program because of a nondiscrimination rule that among other things prohibits preschools from refusing admission to any child on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity of the child or the child’s parents. (NBC News)

It is not the place of a school and certainly not of a church to teach morality to our youth. That belongs at home. True enough, not all parents do such a hot job of it, but it is still their responsibility. And aside from that, sending a child to a Catholic school is basically sending them to Pedophilia Central. No way I’d trust a clergyman with the welfare of my child. Somewhere, right now as you read this, a child is being molested by a so-called “religious leader.” Prove me wrong.

If you want an example of how badly religion can screw up a government, look no further than the case of Alan Turing. Turing was a brilliant scientist and is regarded as the “father of modern computers.” He devised the equipment used by the UK to decrypt encoded Nazi transmissions and was regarded as a hero of WWII.

But after the war it was discovered that he was gay. All the good he had done was forgotten. Turing was chemically castrated for his “crimes” and eventually commited suicide via cyanide poisoning. He was only 41 years old at the time. What else might he have given the world? He was post humously pardoned in 2013. Better late than never, right?

Atheist, homosexual, eccentric, marathon-running mathematician, A. M. Turing was in large part responsible not only for the concept of computers, incisive theorems about their powers, and a clear vision of the possibility of computer minds, but also for the cracking of German ciphers during the Second World War. It is fair to say we owe much to Alan Turing for the fact that we are not under Nazi rule today.”– Cognitive Scientist Douglas Hofstadter

According to LGBTQNation:
The court has consistently found in favor of Christians who have claimed that nondiscrimination policies violate their right to religious expression, including in the following cases:

  • 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, a 2023 decision that ruled that Colorado can’t enforce its anti-discrimination law against a Christian web designer.
  • Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, a 2022 decision that ruled that the school district violated a football coach’s First Amendment rights by preventing him from praying on the field after games.

Odds are that the current SCOTUS (6-3 conservative majority) will violate the Constitution (again) and rule in favor of the Catholics. And that’s a shame. Most Christians do not understand the importance of keeping religion and government separated. Unless something happens to change our course, we are headed toward being a theocracy instead of a free republic. We’ll become a Christian version of Iran.

Why???

Because Christians don’t know the difference between religious freedom and Christian privilege. Because we’re all supposed to respect their sincerely held bullshit beliefs. Because they think we’re all broken and worthless without the saving graces of their Jeezus. Because they’re a bunch of arrogant assholes who believe they’re qualified to tell the rest of us how to live. And they don’t see themselves as arrogant. They believe they’re righteous, pious, or whatever.

What they actually are is a bunch of sadly misguided and at times dangerous individuals. They arrogantly (and ignorantly) chant that America is a “Christian nation” No she isn’t. That is not what the Founders intended nor did they mention Christianity anywhere in the Articles or Amendments to the Constitution.

In fact, paragraph 3 of Article VI plainly states:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Is that plain enough? See y’all later.
