About Alan Burkhart

I consider myself a free thinker and as such, I'm skeptical of just about everything. I've discovered over the years that the truth is often found in the unlikeliest of places. I don't claim to be an expert on anything. But I do enjoy sharing my thoughts. Your thoughts are of course welcome as well.

It’s The Schools, Stupid

I hadn’t planned to blog today. I’ve posted a lot of stuff here lately and apparently it wasn’t very good. But then a few of my friends posted some really bizarre stuff online and I felt the need to answer. More of the “we’re screwed without God” stuff. They apparently believe that “GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL” and all will be well if we just have faith. Continue reading

How Long Do The Last Days Last?

So we’re in the Last Days. How long are they supposed to last? I’m 64 years old and Christians have been blabbing about it for as long as I can remember. When I was still a child and had no choice but to attend church, old Brother McDaniel once said that Jesus’ return was so near he’d like to just keep preaching until it happened. That was over 50 years ago. Continue reading

Praying Hands Do No Work

Between the Uvalde, TX and Buffalo, NY incidents nearly 30 people have been shot dead in a period of just two weeks. The Buffalo shooting occurred in a supermarket. But as we know, the Uvalde shooting was at a school full of young children. Continue reading

Matches Made In Hollywood Heaven

Sometimes I love Hollywood. Other times I want to burn the whole thing to the ground. It is perhaps the largest single collection of arrogant, spoiled adults on the planet. But sometimes they come through with flying colors. Sometimes a movie or character comes along that just lights up the world. And I’m not so narrow minded that I can’t appreciate it when they do so. Continue reading

Hey Christians: It’s Not All About You – Part II

What is it with Christians? Why do they believe that everything has to be about them and their god? Recently the city council of Haven, KS voted to remove the “In God We Trust” logo from their city vehicles because they correctly understood it violated the principle of church – state separation. Continue reading

Life After Facebook

Everyone who uses Facebook gets ticked off at them every now and again. Too many rules, too much political correctness, heaps and tons of unvetted advertisers, etc etc. A few months back I decided it was time to make a change and started shopping around for another platform. Some years ago I truly enjoyed Facebook but they’ve gotten too big for their britches. And then the other day I evidently broke one of their precious rules and got banned for 24 hours, plus a few other arbitrary “punishments” to keep me in my place. Continue reading

Hey Christians: It’s Not All About You

Christians are programmed to believe that not only is their religion the only “true” religion, but that everyone else is involved in a Satanic plot to destroy Christianity and take over the world (or something like that anyway). For those of us who are not buried in the sour mud of Christian ignorance, it’s often annoying to hear them blathering on and on about how they’re persecuted, abused, slighted and ridiculed. Continue reading
