Here we go again. Yet another public school teacher who thinks her religion gives her license to break the law. It’s stuff like this that sits at the heart of my belief that young children must be protected from religion until they’re old enough to think critically on their own. But supposed purveyors of piety know how much easier it is to twist the mind of a child than an adult. As such they continue to shamelessly worm their way into our schools. Continue reading

Mermaid Lives Matter
Author’s Note: This bit is a work of satire. Any resemblance to real persons, places, or mermaids is purely coincidental. This includes any instance of similarity to someone who is real but self-identifies as fictitious or vice versa. Continue reading
Jumping The Gun
So the governors of Texas, the state of my birth and Mississippi, my adopted home state have decreed that it’s time to “open up for business.” I hope that goes well but I must admit being a bit skeptical. Both governors apparently think that we’re safe from the pandemic at this point. But no we aren’t. Not even close. The end result will be a new wave of infections and unnecessary deaths that will rightfully be the fault of these two short-sighted men. Continue reading
Boys Will Be Boys – Until They’re Not
OK before I get into this please allow me to make something very clear. I have no issue with the gay community. Sexual orientation is largely decided in the womb before you’re born. We don’t get to decide what gender(s) we are attracted to. It’s just how people are wired. If Jack marries Phil instead of Jill, my life doesn’t change. It’s their business, not mine and I wish them happiness and prosperity. The LGBTQ folks deserve all the same rights as the rest of us. And if you wish to have gender reassignment surgery, it’s your call to make. Again, I wish you well.
But sometimes our rights come into conflict, and things can get complicated. Or as the old saying goes, “Your right to swing your arm ends at my nose.” It is just such a conflict that concerns me here. So let’s dive into it… Continue reading
The Sins of the Fathers?
Of all the craziness being pushed by the Left in America, I think the idea of “slavery reparations” might be the most outlandish of them all. Yes, there was a time when reparations would have been justified – back when the majority of former slaves were still alive. But now? Generations have come and gone. Race is no longer a factor where civil rights are concerned. The time for reparations has long since passed. Continue reading
Keeping Occupied
As most of my family and friends already know, I had a fairly serious heart attack in late November of 2020 while working in Idaho. It required a quintuple bypass surgery to keep me in the world a little longer. It’ll still be a few more weeks before I can legally re-certify (I’m a truck driver) and get back to work. So I’ve been sitting here at home in Mississippi trying to keep myself occupied and entertained. Continue reading

Overwhelmed In America
2020 Hindsight
2020 was as we all know, a wacky and sometimes painful year. We’ve had worse years overall, but not lately. But as we watch 2020 drift away upon the Sea of Bad Memories, let’s take a look at a few of its final slaps in humanity’s collective face. Because you know, some truly silly shit happened in 2020. Continue reading
