Would You Kill For God?

Man with chains on wristsI hear it and see it all the time: Christians claiming that God “tells them” or “guides them” in some way. Usually they describe it as a strong feeling from within. On social media I see all these declarations about how people want God to guide them and protect them. It’s sickening to see people abasing themselves before a non-existent tyrant in hopes of currying favor. And whether they realize it or not, that’s all they’re (you’re?) doing. Continue reading

Whatever Happened To Women’s Rights?

Women are caught in a political tug of war between conservatives who’d take away their reproductive rights, and liberals who apparently think men can be women if they so desire. Women who do not wish to compete against (or share locker rooms with) biological males are called bigots and worse. Never mind the fact that these so-called trans-women are generally bigger and stronger than the women they compete against in track, swimming, wrestling, etc. Real, biological women are not allowed to complain. Whatever happened to the days when Democrats were all about women’s rights? Continue reading

Whose Holiday Is It Anyway?

Santa - Full moonOK, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukka and a Cheerful Winter Solstice to all. I personally decided this year to just let the whole “Holiday Season” pass me by with as little drama as possible. I’m stocked up on groceries so no need to deal with the crazy-long checkout lines at Kroger. And you can bet your butt I’m not getting anywhere near Walmart anytime soon. Continue reading

Things That Burn My Ass

Happy Holidays Y’all!
It’s November and here we go again. Every time the holiday season rolls around arrogant, uninformed Christians start insisting that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” Here and now, fully a week before Thanksgiving, I’m seeing memes on Facebook about “It’s Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays.” They seem to not notice that there are THREE holidays coming up. Can I not wish you happiness for all three? Or am I supposed to itemize a list? WTF do you people expect?! Continue reading

God’s Women

One of the most irksome things (to me at least) about the Abrahamic religions is its deeply-rooted misogyny. These religions started out dominated by men, and women ended up being the scapegoats for all of man’s weaknesses. Eve supposedly tempted Adam in the garden, so the fall of humanity and the expulsion from the Garden must be the fault of women. And never mind the fact that sex and immodesty were considered taboo. Once Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they straightaway stitched some fig leaves together to cover themselves. How the heck is it wrong for a husband and wife to see each other naked? Things We Fight About

Photo Credit: David Erickson (link below post)

As a middle-of-the-road kind of guy, at times I feel like I am surrounded by nut-jobs of every stripe. Far-left, far-right, religious zealots, hateful anti-theists, anarchists, anti-capitalists, etc etc etc. The list is endless. And me? I just wanna get through the day with as little drama as possible. I’ve been an Atheist most of my life, but it wasn’t something I announced to the world. I didn’t become vocal until the Christian right became so determined to inflict their mental poison upon our schools, our legal system, and our culture in general. Continue reading

Boys Will Be Boys…Until They’re Not

GENDER

Either of the two divisions, designated female and male, by which most organisms are classified on the basis of their reproductive organs and functions; sex.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition.

I am amazed at the absurdities I’m seeing from both the Left and the Right. How did humanity get to a point in which gender is a matter of preference? Continue reading

Absurdity, Insanity, Or Both?

I am so tired of American Christians and their self-important nonsense. If they’d actually study their bibles instead of just assuming everything their pastors tell them is true, they’d likely reach the same conclusion that I reached years ago. The Bible is a book of filth, violence, misogyny and vulgarity. And most importantly, there’s little truth to be found within it. One only needs apply bit of common sense to most of the Bible’s stories to see just how impossible they are.

Two Sides To Every Fence

I was fussing about this a few days ago, but I’m gonna fuss a little more. Christians constantly post stuff on social media about how great their god is. And that’s fine. They have that right and I support it. But if a non-believer should make a comment on that post in disagreement, no matter how polite, the believers often respond with indignation or outright arrogance (“My god is the ONE TRUE GOD OF THE BIBLE!!!”).
